Live Sales Executive - Features

Rex Features is Britain's leading independent photographic press agency and image library, supplying a daily service of news, celebrity, features, and stock photos to media in the UK and worldwide. It is one of the leading sources of editorial photography, with contributors and sales agents throughout the world. The company was established over 50 years ago and is based in Clerkenwell, with further offices in New York and Los Angeles.

We are looking for a Sales Executive to join our Live Sales Team working within the Features Department. You will be responsible for selling exclusive and live feature material to newspapers and magazines, recognising the potential in accessible material and targeting relevant markets, as well as maintaining/establishing excellent client relationships.

Main Duties & Responsibilities include:

  • Selling exclusive feature material to newspapers and magazines,
  • Striving to increase feature sales to the newspaper market to a minimum of 3 sales weekly providing material is available.
  • Recognising potential in live material, including exclusives, for the male target audience.
  • To increase revenue to each client in this market by demanding highest possible fees for live material and our quirky feature sets.
  • Arranging visits to clients to build up client relationships, increasing sales and promoting Rex Features.
  • Distributing and maximising sales of daily news material, constantly being provided by our photographers and agencies
  • Negotiating fees

You will have a keen interest in, and broad knowledge of all aspects of news and current affairs, the ability to establish and develop strong relationships with all editorial departments in the press, and have a good general knowledge in the entertainment world. Experience of working in a dynamic press agency environment is also desirable.

Standard working hours are 9.30-6pm Monday - Friday, however will also need to work flexible hours, including weekends, occasionally depending on media event demands.

Picture Editor

It is one of the leading sources of editorial photography, with contributors and sales agents throughout the world. The company was established over 50 years ago and is based in Clerkenwell, with further offices in New York and Los Angeles.

We are looking for a photo editor to join our production team. You will be responsible for editing and syndicating our vast daily production of images.

Main Duties & Responsibilities include:

  • Working with senior editors on a tight deadline to select the best images sent in by our suppliers, with a special focus on entertainment and celebrity images.
  • Syndicating images to our global network of agents, uploading the material to the Rex website and working with our sales team to maximise the sales potential of the material
  • Liaising with photographers and agents to ensure material meets the highest standards and is provided in a timely fashion
  • Working with the production team to update and maintain the Rex Features home page

You will have at least 2 years experience working at a photo agency or entertainment publication.You will have a keen interest in, and broad knowledge of, all aspects of celebrity culture, news, and current events. You will be knowledgeable about digital photography and proficient in Adobe Photoshop CS3.

Standard working hours are 9:30-6:00 Sunday-Thursday, with an occasional need for flexibility depending on media event demands.
